Celebrate Pollinator Week at Willa Cather Memorial Prairie


June 21- 27, 2021

10:00 AM- 3:00 PM 

Spend the first day of summer, and throughout National Pollinator Week, on the Willa Cather Memorial Prairie!

This preserved tract of 612 untilled original Nebraska prairie welcomes hikers and wildlife viewers. Celebrate the magnificent and place-defining landscape and watch for pollinators on early summer flora blooms. Participate in our prairie exploration backpack program and sign out a full kit of naturalist gear from our National Willa Cather Center Bookstore in nearby Red Cloud, free of charge. Hike, picnic, photograph, witness spectacular sunrises and sunsets, or dark sky viewing!

Open 24 hours year round. The Willa Cather Memorial Prairie is located on the Nebraska-Kansas border, five miles south of Red Cloud, on Highway 281. For more information visit:

Crane Trust Pollinator Camp 2021

The Crane Trust Nature and Visitor Center  in Wood River, Nebraska will be hosting Pollinator Camp 2021 with outdoor activities from the Nebraska Outdoor Trailer and ones we created. We have two different groups registered for the event who will participate in the activities and learn about pollinators.

Planting Backyard Habitats

In honor of the Nebraska State Parks Centennial Celebration and Nebraska Pollinator week, the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will hold a Planting Backyard Habitats Workshop on Saturday June26th at the Wildcat Hills Nature Center. The event begins at 9:30am MT and is open to anyone interested in learning more about local pollinators and ways to help them.

Pollinator Card Workshop at LUX

30th Annual State Habitat Meeting

Join Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever of Nebraska this summer, June 26th, at Heartland Public Shooting Park for a fun-filled day of habitat education and outdoor activities for the whole family to enjoy. This year’s State Habitat Meeting features a variety of habitat demonstration plots, hands-on activities for youth, pollinator activities, dog training and field care, shooting instruction, gun fitting, and much more.

Schramm Pollinator Day

Celebrate Nebraska Pollinator Week 2021 at Schramm Education Center in Gretna, NE on June 27th from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. We’ll have guests from the UNL Bee Lab and Master Gardeners here, along with our Nebraska Game and Parks staff to share activities and information about pollinators. Make a bee house, plant some seeds, explore for insects and more!


This is a free, outdoor program. Education Center admission fees apply for those entering the building. In case of inclement weather, activities which we are able to move indoors will take place in our classroom. Questions? Contact

Large Scale Pollinator Habitat Installation

10:00 AM- 2:00 PM 

Come out and learn the various methods of large-scale pollinator habitat installation, like no-till seed drilling and hand-broadcasting ~5 acres of habitat. We will cover site-preparation, species selection and maintenance/ monitoring of habitat, and more. GPMB members will go home with free seed as well! May 29th, weather dependent. This Learning Series meets Great Plains Master Beekeeping program Learning Objective 2.2: Pollinator services and plant biology, landscape enhancement.

Cost: $5 for Great Plains Master Beekeeping members. $10 for nonmembers.
